The MORORAN RIVER. Tumauini’s pride, National Finalist in the 1999 Annual Gawad Pangulo sa KAPALIGIRAN on Cleanest Inland Body of Water- Category A. It is situated at Barangay Dy-Abra and one of the waterways that criss-cross the municipal territory led by the mighty Cagayan River and the winding life-giving waters of the Pinacanauan river, creeks, ponds and lakes of various shapes and sizes and the landscapes, providing “oasis” as it were to thirsty people, crops, and animals. The river is perhaps the most undisturbed river in the Cagayan Valley Region because of its remoteness. Its crystal-clear waters are clean and the rocky riverbanks are proofs that it remains untouched.

Nestled within the undulating crevices of gigantic boulders, the Mororan River offers a majestically breath-taking view of the longest mountain range in the country, the Sierra Madre, where headwaters of the river are located. Trekking along the riverbanks down to its wide approach, any trekker’s eye can feast upon the multi-faceted wonders of nature. A miniature waterfalls cascading like a veil, sparkling waters teeming with diverse fish species, a canopy of stalactites gleaming in the early morning sun and the awesome soil graduations reveal the geological upheavals of an era long gone.

The panoramic crystal-clear Mororan River takes pride with drops of water falling like rain from the mountain and lying below the numerous chambers of the Sinavulluan Caves with naturally formed shining rocks which has assumed different shapes due to internal erosions. It is a favorite picnic ground of people who prefer the long-winding and noisy rushing water that evokes nostalgic feelings and yearnings to urban dwellers. Its verdant and lush meadows and the blinding reflection of water underneath the sun truly make Mororan River a scenic beauty to behold.
